Mill Hill Now |
I will be working across Mill Hill School, Mill Hill International and Belmont on the delivery of Careers education to all pupils.
My role is to provide pupils with the advice and guidance needed to make informed decisions about their futures, and curate a programme that responds to the trends and challenges of the world of work today. Perhaps now more than ever, young people are leaving school and graduating into a rapidly changing and uncertain labour market. This challenge may seem daunting to some, but since beginning this role in March, I have been struck by the fiercely entrepreneurial spirit of Millhillians, past and present.
I have had the pleasure of meeting a number of individuals from Mill Hill’s network over the past few months and have been met with such enthusiasm and generosity in their approach to Careers education. From witnessing exchanges across generations at professional networking events, to the insightful questions asked by pupils at our recent Law working lunch with Evelyn Taylor (Winfield 2019-2021) there is a unique quality to the sharing of wisdom, experience and advice among member of the Mill Hill community.
Looking ahead to next academic year, the calendar of Careers events is already full of Old Millhillians:
- John Gallagher (Ridgeway 1964-1969) Distinguished Lawyer and former OM President
- Caroline Hepker (Weymouth 1993-1995) Anchor of Bloomberg Radio’s “Daybreak Europe”
- Jonathan Craymer (Murray 1963-1968) President and Founder of Shayype Solutions
- Martin Leuw (Ridgeway 1977-1980), Founder of Growth4Good
We are extremely grateful to members of the community who give time out of their busy lives to come back to Mill Hill and speak to pupils about their career journeys. The real-world insight these occasions offer into the makings of a successful career – pitfalls, triumphs and all – is something parents, pupils and staff value as an essential part of the Millhillian experience.
If you would like to discuss how you could get involved in the Careers programme, through speaker events, industry insights, work shadowing placements or more, please get in touch via email – ellen.weaver@millhill.group.
