  • What has been your most notable job since leaving Mill Hill?

Live outside broadcast director for BBC television.

  • What is your proudest achievement?

- Making a BBC documentary in Africa about the plight of Saharawan refugees which led to Margaret Thatcher cancelling a major arms deal with Morocco.

- Setting up a Springwatch from scratch for the BBC for which my team and I received a BAFTA.

  • What is your favourite or funniest memory from your time at Mill Hill?

- Converting an old air-raid shelter next to the car park into a practice room for our school band with John Dawson, Peter Van-Hook, Nigel Warren-Thomas and Chaz Jankel (circa 1964).

- Playing with the above band at many school functions, but most memorably when we were the warm-up band for Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck when they performed in the Large (1966)

  • Who was your favourite teacher?

E.Stringer (English)

  • Are you still in touch with other OMs?

Just two, John Dawson and Michael Hailey who now lives in Australia.

  • What advice would you give to current Millhillians?

Don’t be afraid to follow your dreams regardless of what anyone else may say or think. You are at work for a very long time – it’s so much better and easier if you really enjoy it.

  • What life lesson do you carry with you from Mill Hill?

To be independent and to try to live life to the full.
