Since the lockdown I have been busy producing PPE visors for the NHS. It all started as a 3D printing company started producing masks in the Czech Republic to support the countries healthcare system. As the UK was following in the footsteps of the rest of Europe in terms of the spread of the pandemic I thought that I would be able to use my skills and the equipment that I have, both at school and at home to help.
Initially I just started making 3D printed components and fitting acetate and elastic to make the full visor. After a few weeks it became clear that I was not the only one doing this and have now become part of the 3Dcrowd UK (
https://www.3dcrowd.uk/) collective. We have hubs all over the country and are organised into areas of responsibility. I work closely with Mike Noonan (Head of DT) at QE boys and we have fulfilled orders for the Barnet/Enfield area as well as part of major national orders. These orders include the GP on Barnet high street, Wilkinsons pharmacy and The Royal Free ITU. We are looking to complete a big order for Barnet Hospital as the next big challenge.
Also, I have created a working group within the Foundation including Mr Warden (Head of DT at Belmont) and pupils including Alex Court and Duncan McNought. We are all working to the same goal of producing as many 3D parts as possible for the much-needed Visors that’s are in limited supply in our NHS.
My feeling that in this time of crisis we should all help as much as we are able and using the skills and resources, we have in our collective we are contributing to the NHS in the best way possible.
