Dear Old Millhillian,
The OM Engineers Dinner will once again be held at The Bleeding Heart restaurant in London following last years’ successful format which included networking, socialising and a guest speaker. We shall also continue with the climate change theme which stimulated much discussion over dinner.
This year we have the honour to welcome as guest speaker a world renown and eminent engineer/scientist who provides an alternative view about the practicalities and realities of the target of “Net Zero”.
Professor Gautam Kalghatgi worked for 31 years at Shell Research in the U.K. followed by 8 years in Saudi Aramco before retiring in 2018. He has been a Visiting Professor at Oxford University; Imperial College; KTH Stockholm; TU Eindhoven and Sheffield University; recently Consultant Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong university.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, SAE, I.Mech.E. the Combustion Institute and an Honorary Fellow of the International Society for Energy Environment and Sustainability (ISEES). He has published around 140 papers and a book, “Fuel/Engine Interactions”, on energy, combustion, fuels and engine research.
He has received many awards including the 2021 ASME Internal Combustion Engines award, Huw Edwards award of the Institute of Physics, SAE Horning Award, and the Sugden award of the Combustion Institute. He has a B.Tech. from I.I.T. Bombay and a Ph.D. from Bristol in Aeronautical Engineering.
All OMs and partners with an interest in Engineering, technology or the Sciences in general are welcome.
Places are limited to 30, so sign up early.
